Whitewell, Cairngorms
A tracery of delicate birch branches, leafless as spring approaches, with the high summits of the Cairngorms - Braeriach, Carn Elrig and the trench of the Lairig Ghru glowing intensely in the afternoon sunlight. This is Whitewell, at the head of long Glen Einich, the start of many a long plod.
There is time to think while waiting for such light, or when you're engaged on a long plod. I have been asked by Stills gallery in Edinburgh (http://www.stills.org/) to take part in their evening lecture programme on some of the ideas underpinning photography, and so I will be putting together some of the thoughts about photography and the environment that I've been reflecting upon while I plod or wait for the light.
I'm sure my talk will be very interesting, and in no way a long plod.
