I visited Vogrie Park by Dalkeith in golden autumnal light to spend a bit of time with a young group from the Green Team and the John Muir Award.
The Award is the educational initiative of the John Muir Trust, and It 'encourages awareness and responsibility for the natural environment, in a spirit of fun, adventure and exploration.'
While I was there, the group were working with the Vogrie rangers to clear ponds, repair paths, paint woodwork and play various environmental exploration games.
Over 100 000 people have taken part in the JMA scheme. That's 100,000 people who have risen to the four challenges of discovering, exploring, conserving and sharing a wild place, from mountain summit to garden.
